Jelena Smiljanic is an architect and artist based in Vienna.
She was born and raised in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Even though life occasions took her to the other choices in terms of profession, life long passion for her was always drawing and painting.
She moved to Austria as an student of architecture to complete her studies in Vienna. Despite professional commitments as an architect, her love for art and painting has never waned and remains an important part of her creative development and self reflection.

As a self-taught artist, Jelena's work is characterised by a spirit of exploration and experimentation. Inspiration has always come through various things, mainly from nature and different materials that nature contains, but also from people or architecture.
Jelena approaches each painting as a open-ended journey with no fixed plan or goal, allowing for spontaneity and adaptation along the way. Every artwork offers new perspective, trains artist’s patience and tolerance to unexpected outcome and only the one who works on a piece can see or feel when the work is done.
In other words, every artwork we do teaches us the art of living life.
